Northwoods Care Centre - Belvidere, 

Northwoods held their Annual Safety Fair for all employees, this past Friday.  The event began bright and early at 7am and lasted until 3:30pm and is mandatory for all staff members.  The purpose of the safety fair is to insure that all staff members are trained properly in several areas.  Georgia Schnor, RN, instructed the certification and recertification of the professional staff and C.N.A.s for CPR. There were also 11 stations set up that covered the specific topics of the exam.   The staff was able to visit each station before taking the 11 page exam.  The areas covered were:

• Emergency Preparedness Plan
• Hazardous Materials and Waste Plan
• Exposure Control Plan
• Life Safety Plan
• Utility Management and Medical Equipment Management Plan
• Geriatric Competencies Test
• Compliance Program
• Seasonal Flu/H1N1 Flu
• Missing Residents/Elopement Policy
