Northwoods Care Centre - Belvidere, IL

In honor of Susan Mead's 30th anniversary with Northwoods Care Centre, there were 2 days of celebrations held.  Linda Kenkel, Administrative Assistant, said "One day just wasn't enough. After 30 years, there are a lot of people who want to take part and be here for Susan." The celebrating began on Tuesday, when a surprise brunch was held during the monthly, Quality Assurance meeting with the Medical Directors. On Wednesday, Susan attended a special luncheon in her honor, with the department heads, including Public Relations Director, Marc Bright and the Clinical Nurse Liaison, Sharon Thomas.  Afterward a party was held in the dining area for the residents and entire staff. There were 2 large, beautiful cakes and a variety of snacks for everyone to enjoy.  Susan received many fresh floral arrangements that decorated, not only her office, but the dining room as well.  She also received a very special gift, A Chicago Bears garden gnome!  Susan expressed her gratitude and thanked everyone for not only the party, but for helping Northwoods to remain a wonderful place to live and work.

Susan attended Rochelle Township High School and graduated in 1968. She then attended the University of Illinois, graduating in 1972 with a BSSW Degree. In 1981, Susan moved to Belvidere, IL to accept the position of Administrator of Northwoods Care Centre.  She started on August 17th.  Susan is married to Gene Mead and they have 2 children, Brett and Meghan.  Susan enjoys spending her free time with her two grandchildren, Olivia and Noah and loves taking family vacations together.

Susan has always maintained an open-door policy for all residents, their families and staff.  Her dedication to Northwoods Care Centre over the past 30 years is unparalleled.
